As decorators you are faced with more challenges today when heat pressing transfers because of the variety of fabrics used. Following our tips will help you streamline the process and in return increase profit.
KNOW YOUR FABRIC
Take the time to asses your fabric before application. Examples would be fabric makeup, color, dye migration, texture, coatings, and wash/wear durability.
PREHEATING GARMENTS
Always pre-press your garment to avoid shrinkage and remove extra moisture to get better adherence.
IF YOU HAVE ISSUES STOP!
KNOW YOUR TRANSFER TYPES
It is important to choose the correct transfer for your fabric type. Always specify garment type when placing orders to ensure the correct product is used.
ADHERING ISSUES
Test different times & temperatures. You are always best to decrease temperature and press longer if issues occur.
TESTING TRANSFERS
We recommend testing on any new or unfamiliar products. You can cut your logo into sections and apply to avoid wasting transfers/garments.
CHECK TEMPERATURE
Periodically check your temperature with a digital surface pyrometer.
If you are having issues with transfers adhering stop immediately. Verify that you are following the directions supplied with your transfers. If you are still having issues begin testing. Always test on the same garment or ruined garment to avoid added costs. Adjust time, temperature and peeling technique. Do not begin pressing new garments until you feel you have resolved the issue. Unfortunately every garment reacts differently that is why we always recommend testing before you begin production.
THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT YOU RECEIVE ARE RECOMMENDED SETTINGS, WE ALWAYS RECOMMEND TESTING.
